Rookie Hookers

Rookie Hooker
At the back end of 2014 my niece, Darcie, and I went along to our local High School for a six-week crochet for beginners course. The fact that Darcie thought she was going to a ‘croquet for beginners’ course is now irrelevant because she has taken to crochet like a duck to water.
My previous crochet experience was to try following YouTube videos by professionals. I discovered that I don’t learn that way; the constant pause, drag back, play and try to keep up wasn’t conducive to me getting to grips with a hook and yarn! What I needed was a proper real live person in front of me teaching me the ropes. That is what I got and after the six-weeks were up we all asked our fab tutor Lynne Rowe to run an intermediary class.
With that now under my belt I have started up a knitting and crochet gathering (Woolgathering Sandbach) so that local folk can get together for yarn based projects and a natter.
The plan is to use this site and the blog to record my evolution in crochet. Where possible I will show links to the patterns and yarns that I am using.
